Rainbow Boys
Three high school students are struggling with their identity: Nelson is openly gay, Kyle has not admitted his identity, especially to his parents, and Jason has a girlfriend and is struggling to accept that he is gay. When they attempt to begin a gay students club at school, their paths cross and each must confront who they really are and take responsibility for their actions and the people they care about. This award-winning novel for grades 10-12 deals with issues of homophobia, identity, relationships, and communication, and is suitable for a class novel with teacher guidance or a literature circle choice. Social considerations noted; sensitive nature of material requires teacher intervention.
