Red Pencil, The
This illustrated novel, written in free verse, tells the story of 12 year old Amira and the horrors she and her family experience when the Janjaweed suddenly attack and devastate their village. It is not until Amira is given a red pencil when she is in the refugee camp that she is able to begin to grieve and heal.
