Rest of the Story, The
Seventeen-year-old, anxiety-prone Emma has an opportunity to spend time with her Mom’s family when her father leaves on his honeymoon with his new wife. Emma remembers her Mom, who died of a drug overdose, but doesn’t know her whole story and hasn’t seen her maternal family in years. In a few short weeks she reacquaints herself with her family, learns the rest of her Mom’s story, makes new friends, and learns about herself as well. This engaging, approachable novel, with its interesting, relatable characters can be used as a literature circle, class, or independent novel to explore topics of family and identity.
