Resurgence: Engaging With Indigenous Narratives and Cultural Expressions In and Beyond the Classroom

This text is a resource designed for educators in response to the TRC Calls to Action for education. It guides Canadian educators to meaningfully include Indigenous ways of being and stories in their curriculum. Written by an Anishnaabe educator and a settler educator, the co-authors invite teachers to consider their own practice and perspectives as they guide their students in exploring Indigenous stories, artwork, and perspectives, stimulating a deepened understanding through increasingly complex reflection. The easy-to-use resource is suitable for Grade K–12 educators. It provides a guiding framework to help students connect to self, connect to the community, and reflect on the colonial power structures while exploring the works contributed by Indigenous authors, thinkers, and artists.
