Ritu Weds Chandni

Narvankar, A.
Ayesha is so excited about her cousin’s wedding. For her, it represents a special occasion of dancing and celebration, but she is unaware of the turmoil and discrimination that the two brides face because of their marriage. This picture book—set in India— is about same-sex relationships and about how individuals can stand up against bullying and discrimination. In a primary classroom, the story may invite class discussions about different families and cultures. Its theme may also provoke conversations about discrimination and standing up for what is right. Additionally, the rich and vivid images may inspire art projects around warm and cool colours.
