Saffron Threads: South Asian Canadian Culture, Grades K-6

Created as part of the University of the Fraser Valley’s South Asian Canadian Legacy Project to explore the South Asian Canadian experience in British Columbia, this simple and easy-to-use website provides a wide variety of lessons, activities, and resources for students in Kindergarten to Grade 6. The resource allows students to actively learn about South Asian culture and consider the meaning of identity and what makes us who we are. The website may be used in the classroom to teach about diversity and other cultures through its various lesson plans, activities, resource links, suggestions, and assessment ideas. Students may be invited to learn about Canada’s past and current immigration policies and the experiences of people coming to Canada.
