Save Me A Seat
Ravi, a recent emigrant from India, and Joe, an American struggling with Auditory Processing Disorder, share being new students, outsiders, having social difficulties at their new school, and being easy targets for bullying. The two challenge assumptions, honour family traditions, and develop a genuine friendship as they struggle as victims of the same class bully. Suitable for group or individual study in grades 5-7, the novel raises the issues of bullying, prejudice, acceptance, and trying to fit in. The chapters alternate narration by the two main characters and are grouped according to the day of the week and the school cafeteria menu, for example: Monday: Chicken fingers.
