Scar Boys, The

Vlahos, L.
Harry was badly scarred at eight when boys tied him to a tree that burned in a lightning storm, and as a teenager he faces ongoing bullying at school, and apathy from his father at home. His life changes dramatically when he meets Johnny, who persuades him to start a punk band, and the Scar Boys go on a tour that changes every band member's life. This coming-of-age novel, told in the form of a college entrance essay, will be useful for independent, literature circle, or whole class study in grades 10-12 and could encourage discussions about how to stop bullying or what students could have done to help Harry.
