Shadows

This atmospheric hi-lo ELL series is aimed at beginner or intermediate ELL learners, and would also be useful for grade 6-12 reluctant readers. The science fiction stories revolve around an Earth that has been invaded by aliens, and the protagonist must hunt and kill the aliens, while searching for his lost girlfriend. Each book is simply written and well-illustrated and the series design provides the repetition that ELL learners need to learn a new language quickly. The guiding questions in each book provide a platform for thinking critically before reading the novel.
