Seventeen-year-old Juliette has a mysterious ability to kill simply by touching someone and has been locked up because of this “disease”. The dystopian government, The Reestablishment, has other plans for her – she will be a weapon of torture to further their reign of terror, but with the assistance of the one boy she can touch and loves, Juliette fights for her freedom and against the corrupt world that locked her away. This novel for grades 9-12 is suitable for lit circles or independent reading and deals with power, personal value, human rights, ethics, violence, and environmental impact. Some social considerations noted.
