Sheep Who Hatched an Egg, The
Lola the sheep has the most beautiful silky, soft wool. She is very proud of her coat and parades in front of the other animals. But, when the hot weather arrives the sheep must have a haircut and she feels inferior without her wool and hides until her silky hair grows back. It is a shock when her hair grows back scraggly, messy, and tangled, and an egg is laid in her hair. But, when the egg hatches, Lola makes a new friend and learns the importance of what is on the inside rather than on outside appearance. This picture book for K-3 presents lessons about vanity, pride, self-esteem, and that appearances can be deceiving. The colourful and whimsical illustrations will delight readers.
