Sidewalk Flowers

Lawson, T.A.; Smith, S.
In this wordless picture book, detailed images reveal a father and daughter walking through their city. As the two walk, the father is distracted by a phone call, the girl's attention wanders and she picks wildflowers that she spots along her way and makes gifts of them to others. The more she focuses on others and shares her gifts, the more colour appears in the world around her. This award-winning book, for K-7, presents opportunities for students to think creatively and explore the story through writing, oral storytelling, or creating artistic works inspired from the text.
