Somewhere in Blue

Cummings, G.
The main theme of this novel is the depiction of grief as sixteen year old Sandy struggles to cope with the recent loss of her father while trying to understand why her mother is not reacting to the loss in the same manner. The novel also touches upon the changing relationships in Sandy's life: her friendships with Lennie, her best friend, and Dan, a friend who becomes a boyfriend. There are contrasting depictions of the mother/daughter relationships.
