Sophie's World

Jostein Gaarder
Sophie Amundsen, a 14-year-old girl in Norway, receives a letter that poses several questions. This letter is the beginning of a philosophy course – a course that begins with Greek mythology and ends with Marx and Sartre. Sophie follows the course through correspondence with an older man named Alberto Knox. Soon after she learns of a girl named Hilde Moller Knag, Sophie and Alberto begin to suspect that they themselves might only exist within the mind of Hilde's father, Albert.
