Sparks!

The story of August and Charlie, two feline friends with an unfortunate past, unfolds through cartoon-style illustrations and expressive texts in “Sparks!”. In the guise of a mechanical dog, the two become superheroes who help humans in need. When they meet their nemesis, Princess, they must come up with a plan to stop her from conquering Earth. This graphic novel is suitable in the lower intermediate classroom as a read-aloud or for independent reading, in particular for emergent or reluctant readers. It is appropriate for a variety of Language Arts activities around character studies and perspective, as well as for an extension into the Fine Arts curriculum with reference to the book’s colourful and engaging illustrations.
