Speaking My Truth: Reflections on Reconciliation & Residential School
This collection of essays depicts the impact of Residential Schools on individuals and communities, and presents perspectives on reconciliation from First Nation, Metis, Inuit, Japanese Canadian and Chinese Canadian peoples. The psychological, emotional, spiritual, and physical burdens that continue to haunt the survivors of the Residential School system are shown, but the essays also demonstrate healing, hope for the future, and compassion. Suitable for senior high school students, these essays were selected to generate debate and promote understanding between Indigenous communities and the rest of Canada.
