Stand-In, The
High school senior Brooks is about to graduate and is facing the SAT exams and the fact that he needs a lot of money to attend an Ivy League university. He devises a unique way to earn money – accompanying girls who don’t have dates to their proms or other social events. Business is booming but when he falls for a rich girl, he can’t reveal his part-time job or his poor background to her and he nearly loses a long-time friend and almost overlooks that girls can actually like him for who he is, despite his lack of wealth. This young adult romance, for grade 12, is suitable for independent reading and deals with friendship, ethics, integrity, and self-acceptance.
