Steelheart

Sanderson, B.
Eight-year-old David saw his father wound the invincible Epic Steelheart, which was thought impossible, and as a consequence his father was killed. Since then, David has tried to figure out how his father did it so he can kill Steelheart, and when he connects with an underground guerrilla group determined to end the Epics’ rule, they develop a plan to lure Steelheart out of hiding and kill him. This suspenseful dystopian novel, for grades 8-12, encourages discussion of morals, self-determination, identity, good vs. evil, and the power of choice, and would work well as a lit circle selection, class novel, or read-aloud choice.
