Stonewall: A Building. An Uprising. A Revolution

Sanders, R.
The Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village tells the story it witnessed of the 1960s uprising of the LGBTQ+ community as people struggled to achieve individual freedoms and human rights in the homophobic society of the time. Through descriptive narrative and vivid illustrations students will witness the beginning of the LGBTQ+ movement in New York City. This picture book can be used in grade 2-9 classes for read-aloud and discussion to develop understanding and support for LGBTQ+ rights, to learn about diversity, inclusivity, and the importance of everyone’s rights, and for independent reading to support students who have questions about or connections to the topic.
