Sun is Also a Star, The

Yoon, N.
High school seniors Natasha and Daniel, children of immigrants, struggle with the expectations of their cultures, while trying to capture the American Dream. When their paths cross and they fall in love, Daniel believes it is fate and tries to convince pragmatic Natasha that love is more than a chemical reaction. As the story unfolds, the two work to discover their place in their cultures and the importance of dreams. Suitable as a classroom, literature circle, or independent novel selection, the subjects of racism, immigration, personal identity, cultural awareness, parental expectations, and love are addressed in a thoughtful, mature manner.
