Sunny Days Inside: and Other Stories
Seven families who live in an apartment building face the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic and deal with it in different ways. The stay-at-home order causes challenges that affect both children and adults such as layoffs, impact on immune-compromised people, disruption of education, the cancellation of sports activities, social isolation, supply chain shortages, and mental health challenges. The many different stories and perspectives provides a realistic and broad understanding of the complexity of dealing with a pandemic. Suitable as a class read-aloud, introduction to a short story unit, or for independent reading in Gr 5-7 classrooms.
