Surviving the Applewhites

This novel is about an extended eccentric family whose communal lifestyle includes an alternate school and eventually a theatre. The story focuses on two struggling adolescent characters (a male and a female). The main character enters the story as a remorseless pyromaniac, but he learns to temper his anger amidst this free-thinking family community. Exaggerated characters engage the reader in a humorous fashion.
