Swimming in the Monsoon Sea

Set in a privileged Sri Lankan household, this novel focuses on Amrith, a 14-year-old orphan who lives with relatives. The family is warm and loving, but Amrith experiences many unsettled feelings. A talented actor, he is excited to be taking on the role of Desdemona at his all-boys’ school. When Niresh, a 16-year-old Canadian cousin arrives, Amrith starts to feel a strong attraction to him. As his feelings grow, the reader comes to understand Amrith’s confusion and uncertainty.
