Merlyn, a powerful old wizard, agrees to tutor Sir Ector’s son (Kay) and stepson (known as Wart). Kay constantly picks on Wart. One day he is to become a knight but Wart is quite content at becoming a squire. Merlyn forms a special bond with Wart and helps the boy’s education by turning him into various animals so he can learn to be a good leader.
