Take Us To Your Chief: And Other Stories

Hayden Taylor, D.
This Canadian anthology contains nine science fiction stories told from an Indigenous perspective. The stories explore a number of science fiction tropes such as sentient computers, alien invasions, government conspiracies and time travel as a background to modern Indigenous issues and themes, including the impacts of colonialism, importance of land and connections with nature, intergenerational grief, family and Elders, and defining/redefining identity. These short, timely, humorous, and engaging stories can be used to support study of Indigenous culture, identity, beliefs, themes, and teachings and to amplify and explain the historical wrongs done to Indigenous peoples in Canada.
