The story describes island life and accurately portrays the lifestyle of many of the inhabitants. Rich with Canadian content, the novel offers vivid images of the landscape, markets and animal life of the Gulf Islands. The character eventually finds her niche as a writer and comes to terms with her parents’ decision.
