Three Hens and a Peacock
Life is ordered and peaceful on the Tucker farm until a peacock unexpectedly arrives and people flock to see him, which increases business. The hens envy the peacock as they think they are doing all the work to keep the farm going by laying eggs but he is getting all the credit and glory, so the peacock and hens switch jobs with comical consequences. This humorous picture book would be a useful read-aloud for K-5 to encourage discussion of the roles people play, the benefits of collaboration, differences, individuality, and community. The bright and expressive illustrations will engage young students.
