Ticket to Curlew

Lottridge, Celia Barker
Sam and his father arrive in Curlew, Alberta as pioneers in 1915. They venture out into the vast prairie to claim their land and build a new home. Sam finds the landscape and open skies stark at first, but he grows to appreciate the subtleties and challenges of prairie living. The ever changing weather, the gleaming buffalo skull treasures, and his new found friends bring surprise and adventure. Most students would empathize with and appreciate Sam's conflicts and triumphs.
