Trafficked
When seventeen-year-old Hannah’s parents are killed in a terrorist bombing in Eastern Europe, she must leave school and is offered a job as a nanny in the U.S that is almost too good to be true. She quickly realizes that she is virtually a slave, as she is assaulted, her freedom is reduced, and her $400 salary isn’t paid, all during her pursuit of the American Dream. Suitable for grades 9-12, the novel deals with the current issue of human trafficking, the problems teens face in other parts of the world, resilience, and how power can define freedom. Some social considerations noted.
