Two Times a Traitor
Twelve-year-old Laz’s life is complicated: his strict father moves the family to Boston, forces Laz to participate in a family outing to Louisbourg Fortress on their vacation, and while at the fortress Laz sneaks away and ends up in a tunnel that takes him back to 1745, in the middle of a battle between the French and English. Laz must figure out how to fit in and prove he is not a spy, while looking for a way back to his family. This historical, time travel novel focuses on an important historical event and gives insight into the challenges people in the past faced and how society has changed. Suitable for class read-aloud, literature circle, book club, or independent reading for grades 6-9.
