This historical fiction novel focuses on the Japanese American perspective during World War II. Tomi (1st generation Japanese American) and his friends love playing baseball and form a team called the Rats. The novel depicts the loyalties and conflicts of being a Japanese American after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor.
