As the plot to assassinate Trujillo intensifies, Anita learns more about the secrets surrounding the lives of those closest to her. This coming-of-age novel is based on the author's own life. There are curricular ties to Social Studies 11; content may be useful in a discussion about refugees, war, resistance, and gender roles.
