What Does Consent Really Mean?

Wallis, P., Wallis, T.
When four high school girls leave school they learn via social media that one of their peers has been raped. As the girls try to understand the situation, they see many different opinions are offered on social media, they voice their ideas based on their own experience, and discuss their meanings of consent and respect. This timely graphic novel provides a straightforward look at sexual activity and consent with simple dialogue and clear visuals. A useful tool to launch discussion about consent, healthy relationships, and assault, to support additional student research, as a classroom library resource, or for literature circles in grade 8-10 classes. Social considerations noted; teacher review and support recommended.
