This engaging text examines cultural eating practices and food security around the world. A snapshot of one person from each culture is portrayed and the person’s diet is analyzed. Portrayals of Aboriginal people from around the world, including Canada, are included. Compelling, full-colour photographs accompany each food story. The text is organized by diet from smallest to largest calories consumed in a day. The material is accessible to students in grades 8-12 and students can use the information for diet analysis, for comparison to their own diet and food access, and for comparison of cultural eating practices and beliefs about food.
