What Riley Wore

Arnold, E.K.
Each day, Riley wears different clothing or a costume to feel comfortable, brave, fancy, at ease, or to match the day’s activity, such as dressing as a superhero or a bunny, or wearing a hardhat to the hardware store. When Riley shows up at the park in a tutu, monster shirt, rubber boots, and a spiky hat a classmate asks whether Riley is a boy or girl and when Riley simply explains who they are that day, the classmate accepts Riley and asks Riley to play. This vibrant picture book focuses on diversity, individuality, respecting differences, and friendship, and can launch discussions on acceptance, positive self-identity, gender, and personal preferences.
