When 12-year-old Joseph’s father joins the forces during World War II, Joseph must leave home and live with a stranger, Mrs. F., in London. When Mrs. F takes him to the zoo she runs he develops a bond with an equally angry gorilla and helps Mrs. F protect the animals during the bombings.
