Wolf In The Snow

Cordell, M.
A young girl walking home from school in a snowstorm encounters a wolf pup traveling through the snow that is separated from his pack. The snow becomes too deep for the pup to walk so the girl follows the sound of the pack’s howls and carries the pup through the snow, over creeks, past threatening animals, and returns it to its mother, but as she heads home she is so tired she curls up on the ground and the wolf pack howls to guide a human search party to the little girl. This virtually wordless picture book, with its emotive art work, presents themes of kindness, trust, courage, family, self-sacrifice, hope, and conservation, and can be used as a read-aloud and to support a variety of creative and written activities.
