World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War

Brooks, M.
This science fiction novel is structured as a collection of interviews, conducted by an agent of the United Nations Postwar Commission, of people from around the world who survived the global zombie apocalypse. Each chapter is a different character’s story, and the accounts cover the post-war social, political, religious, and environmental changes. The book deals with difficult themes, including the human cost of war, ethical obligations those in power owe to their constituents, and survival. The complex structure and vocabulary make it best suited to strong readers in senior grades, and would be suitable for lit circles or independent reading.
