Zen and the art of faking it

San, the main character in this engaging, humorous novel has attended many different schools and churches in his life. In order to establish himself at his latest school he decides to assume a Zen Buddhist identity. The writing is conversational, and not strong from a literary perspective but the various issues of honesty, family relationships, caring for the needy, and belief systems provide opportunities for class discussion.
