This inspirational picture book follows an unnamed child as he discovers what it means to be human, from being born and being unique to experiencing the complex range of human emotions, both positive and negative, including joy, curiosity, playfulness, sadness, hope, and fear. He learns we make mistakes and are not perfect and can hurt others and be hurt ourselves but that we can make choices to lead us away from being hurtful and towards being kind and compassionate. Suitable as a read-aloud and for independent or friend reading to explore what it means to be human. Gentle, flowing language and simple sentences are accompanied by simple drawings, coloured to reflect the emotions portrayed.
