Frazier, Charles
Cold Mountain set in the American Civil War. The novel examines driving forces behind the need for such a war and the freeing of the slaves. The Federals are shown from the perspective of the people of the South. Two stories are bound to each other; students may find themselves compelled more by one or the other. Ada must survive in a rural setting in her grief. Inman flees the army to take an allegorical journey to find Ada.
