Season of Styx Malone, The

When Styx Malone enters the ordinary lives of Caleb and his brother, Bobby Gene, their life becomes anything but ordinary. First, the brothers trade their baby sister for a bag of fireworks, and then when they don’t know what to do with the fireworks Styx has many “great” ideas, many which they would never have dared to try before meeting Styx. This engaging novel for grades 4-7 could be used in a literature circle, as an independent novel study, or to launch discussions about peer pressure, diversity, friendship, and identity.
